The Signature Food Fest 5th Edition Continues with an Impressive Culinary Judging at Cherry Seafood Restaurant


12th May 2026 marked another exciting chapter for The Signature Food Fest 5th Edition as the official food judging session took place at Cherry Seafood Restaurant, strategically located along the bustling route connecting Kota Kinabalu to Sabah’s East Coast region. Standing proudly in its own standalone building, the restaurant has long been recognized by locals and travelers alike as a trusted destination for fresh seafood delicacies and grand celebrations.






Managed under the esteemed Upper Palace Dining Group, Cherry Seafood Restaurant is also home to a spacious ballroom venue that regularly accommodates weddings, festive gatherings, corporate functions, and private celebrations.






The evening’s judging session was warmly hosted by General Manager Mr. Andy Yip, whose generosity and hospitality once again created a welcoming atmosphere for both judges and invited guests. Leading the judging panel was Datuk Gordon Leong, who also invited two distinguished guest judges to experience the exclusive culinary session.

Among the invited guest judges were Jimmy Boon, Executive Chef of Kingsly Restaurant | Adelphi Collective, and Dr Anna Wong, current President of the Malaysia Nature Society. Joining them was TSFF Permanent Judge Rory Richardson.












Representing the FAVSTYLE media umbrella were Omar Willie from MY KKCity and Belinda Faith representing Sabah KOL Media Alliance.

For the judging lineup, Mr. Andy curated a sumptuous spread showcasing the restaurant’s strengths in seafood mastery and bold oriental flavors. Among the dishes presented were:

  • Fish Maw Crab Meat Soup
  • Dry Butter Prawn
  • Honey Lamb
  • Curry Fish Head & Belly in Claypot
  • Signature Steamed Hybrid Grouper with Hong Kong Style Sauce

Each dish delivered remarkable depth in flavor, presentation, and culinary execution, creating a challenging evaluation session for the judges.

“Every dish presented a very strong evaluation. It feels like all the dishes could easily qualify as signature dishes,” commented Datuk Gordon Leong.

The Head Judge expressed his admiration for both the impressive lineup and the generous hospitality extended by Mr. Andy and the Cherry Seafood Restaurant team. The invited judges also shared their enjoyment throughout the tasting session, describing it as a memorable and enriching culinary experience.
