CARE FEST 2026 Where Recognition Meets Purpose 38 Days to the Care Fest Gala Dinner

Image
As the countdown to the Care Fest Gala Dinner on 6 November continues, the Sabah Caregivers Support Association is advancing a conversation that reaches far beyond a single evening of recognition. It is a movement centred on dignity, advocacy and the evolving role of caregiving within Sabah’s social landscape. At the Association’s latest meeting, lawyer Johnny Ting shared valuable perspectives on caregiver-related legislation, legal considerations and advocacy, adding an important professional dimension to the ongoing Care Fest dialogue. His insights underscored the need for caregivers to be supported not only through compassion and community, but also through greater awareness of the legal and structural frameworks that shape their lives and responsibilities. At the heart of Care Fest lies a simple yet powerful principle: caregivers deserve to be recognised. Behind every family navigating ageing, illness or changing needs is often a caregiver quietly carrying an extraordinary ...

Bridge from Dapur to Delivery: Building Real-World Kitchen Skills CarersPlus Asia Life Skills Program | Leroy W Kinson Kitchen Management Workshop

Image
The CarersPlus Asia Life Skills Program recently took its students beyond the basics of cooking with “Bridge from Dapur to Delivery,” a practical kitchen management workshop led by local chef and food & beverage entrepreneur Leroy W Kinson on 26 September 2026. The session focused on an important distinction: knowing how to cook a meal is one skill, while knowing how to plan, manage and deliver meals efficiently is another. Students were introduced to the practical realities of running a kitchen, from planning ingredients and quantities to managing budgets, reducing food waste and ensuring meals are served on time. From Cooking a Meal to Managing a Kitchen Leroy brought his years of experience in the food and beverage industry into the classroom, encouraging students to think beyond the recipe. The focus shifted towards practical questions such as how much food is required, what it will cost and how to prevent unnecessary waste. For students who may eventually work in a ho...

Maria Kinson: When Caregiving Becomes a Lifelong Calling | Feature in FAVSTYLE Magazine

Image
Some stories are born from ambition. Others are shaped by love, sacrifice and the quiet strength of caring for another human being. For Maria Kinson (Founder of CarersPlus Asia & President of PSPS) , caregiving is deeply personal. Her journey was shaped by two very different lives she encountered through years of caring for others, experiences that would eventually inspire her to create a platform dedicated to giving caregivers and families a voice. Maria recently shared two photographs that represent powerful chapters of her life. In one, a man sits in a wheelchair. He was her late husband. For more than six years, illness left him unable to open his eyes, move his body or speak. Yet, for Maria, his condition never changed the fundamental truth that he remained her husband, her family and someone deeply loved. Every year, they continued to celebrate his birthday. Because love, she reflected, does not disappear simply because illness enters a family's life. The second ph...

Building Foundations: Opening Doors to Financial Confidence Adjunct Prof Dr Jessie Jong | Personal Budgeting Workshop - CarersPlus Asia

Image
Ask people what carer training covers and most will picture clinical skills — vitals, medication charts, care plans. Money management doesn't usually make that list, but it probably should. For many of our students, this workshop was the first time anyone had sat down with them and talked, plainly, about pay, budgeting, and what it takes to plan for a future that's actually theirs. On Saturday, August 29, we were glad to welcome Adjunct Professor Dr Jessie Jong Chung Jin (A.S.D.K) to lead a session on personal budgeting fundamentals — tracking expenses, setting goals, and thinking a little further ahead than the next payday. The room stayed engaged well past the hour we'd planned for; students asked real questions about their own situations, not textbook ones. Money Feels Different When You're on Your Own Many of our students grew up in kampungs, where a lot of everyday costs are shared without anyone quite totting them up — a meal at home, a lift from a neighbor, f...

WHEN CARE EVOLVES, SO SHOULD THE WAY WE CARE -Thoughtful, personalized support for a life lived with dignity, comfort and independence.

Image
There are moments when the familiar rhythms of daily life begin to change. A parent may need a little more assistance at home, everyday routines may become more challenging, or the emotional complexities of ageing may call for a more considered approach to care. At CarersPlus Asia , care begins with understanding the individual, not simply the condition. Their specialized caregiving services are delivered by trained and nationally accredited carers, providing families with professional support that is coordinated, continuous and holistic. From everyday assistance to evolving care requirements, the approach is designed to address the individual’s needs across the care continuum while preserving what matters most: dignity, autonomy and quality of life. More than assistance, CarersPlus Asia champions a philosophy of person-centred care . Every individual has their own preferences, routines, cultural values and sense of independence. By placing these personal elements at the heart of car...
