Sabah’s music community will come together for a special evening of music, fellowship and community support as local performers headline the launch of Persatuan Sokongan Penjagaan Sabah (PSPS), a new non-governmental organisation established to support people caring for Sabah’s ageing population.
The PSPS Gala Dinner will take place on Friday, 6 November 2026, at ITCC Penampang, bringing together the entertainment and care sectors for an evening built around a meaningful cause.
Leading the entertainment line-up is Evergreen Country Unlimited Band, a country group known for supporting community events across Sabah. Band leader Datuk Ladislaus said the band was quick to support the initiative after PSPS President Maria Kinson explained the organisation’s mission to develop the support infrastructure needed for Sabah’s ageing population.
“Count us in,” he said.
A Night of Country, Blues and Rock & Roll
Evergreen Country Unlimited Band will be joined by blues musician Muazzam, bringing a blues flavour to the evening, while Rayner Pailus, popularly known as “Borneo’s Elvis,” will take the audience back to the golden era of 1950s rock and roll.
Beyond the live performances, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in an auction featuring local art and cultural pieces, together with sports memorabilia from Sabah FC.
The combination of entertainment, culture and community involvement is intended to create a lively evening while drawing attention to an issue that affects families across Sabah.
Supporting Those Who Care
According to PSPS President Maria Kinson, the organisation was founded around the belief that Sabah needs stronger community support for carers, particularly as the state’s ageing population continues to require greater attention and resources.
“PSPS was founded on the belief that Sabah is ready to be the kind of community that shows up for its carers, not just its causes,” Kinson said.
She described the gala dinner as an unconventional but appropriate setting for launching the NGO, emphasising that support for carers should begin with the people and communities already contributing to Sabah.
“It’s exactly the right one,” she said, referring to the gala as the launch platform, because building support for carers has to start with those already showing up for Sabah in different ways.
Bringing Two Communities Together
Organisers say the event represents the first occasion of its kind in which Sabah’s entertainment community and care sector have shared a stage in this manner. PSPS hopes the inaugural gala will become the beginning of further initiatives bringing communities together in support of carers.
For the musicians taking part, the evening provides an opportunity to use their performances not simply as entertainment, but as a platform for community engagement.
For PSPS, it marks the beginning of a broader effort to build awareness and support around the people who provide care for Sabah’s ageing population.
