The FAVSTYLE Magazine team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kota Kinabalu, in an engagement arranged and led by Lorena Binisol of Writer on-the-Go, a media platform and contributor to FAVSTYLE Magazine.
The visit provided an opportunity for the team to meet with His Excellency Bapa Noorman Effendi, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, and introduce FAVSTYLE Magazine, its editorial direction, as well as the various platforms and services it offers.
Also in attendance were FAVSTYLE Magazine Editor-in-Chief Alfred Allen Ginsos, Strategic Advisor Adjunct Professor Dr. Jessie Jong, Belinda Wille - FAVSTYLE HR & Finance Director and Omar Wille - FAVSTYLE social media & Digital Content Director, who are involved in social media, content creation and creative production. Their participation reflected the magazine’s multidisciplinary approach to storytelling and digital media, combining editorial, strategic, creative and social media expertise to reach wider audiences.
Lorena, who has worked closely with FAVSTYLE Magazine as a contributor, facilitated the engagement as part of her efforts to create greater opportunities for collaboration between the media and diplomatic communities. The visit also provided a platform for the FAVSTYLE team to share its vision of using media and storytelling to strengthen connections between Sabah and Indonesia.
Editor-in-Chief Alfred Allen Ginsos shared FAVSTYLE Magazine’s commitment to strengthening its role as a media platform that can work closely with the Consulate in promoting and highlighting Indonesia-related activities and initiatives in Sabah.
He said the magazine could serve as a bridge to bring greater visibility to the many areas of connection between Sabah and Indonesia, including culture, heritage, food, tourism, lifestyle, business, investment, education, economic opportunities and people-to-people connections.
Through feature stories, interviews, event coverage and other editorial content, FAVSTYLE Magazine hopes to showcase the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture while highlighting the longstanding connections between the people of Sabah and Indonesia.
Alfred also shared the magazine’s interest in working with the Consulate to reach wider audiences and promote initiatives that contribute to greater cultural understanding, tourism exchange, business opportunities and community engagement.
“We believe media has an important role to play in building bridges. Through storytelling, we can introduce people to different cultures, create greater awareness and encourage more meaningful connections. We hope FAVSTYLE can work together with the Consulate to bring more of these stories to our readers,” he said.
The discussion also explored potential areas of future collaboration, particularly in promoting the Consulate’s programmed and activities through engaging and accessible media content.
For FAVSTYLE Magazine, the engagement represents an opportunity to expand its role beyond traditional lifestyle coverage by creating meaningful partnerships with diplomatic missions, organizations and communities that contribute to Sabah’s diverse cultural, social and economic landscape.
The courtesy visit marked a positive first step towards exploring closer cooperation between FAVSTYLE Magazine and the Indonesian Consulate in Kota Kinabalu, with a shared interest in promoting stronger cultural ties, greater understanding and people-to-people connections between Sabah and Indonesia.
Consul General Bapa Noorman Effendi welcomed the proposed collaboration and expressed his support for exploring opportunities to work together in the future. His positive response reflected the Consulate’s openness to engaging with local media platforms such as FAVSTYLE Magazine to promote greater awareness and understanding of Indonesia’s cultural, social and economic connections with Sabah.
