The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) hosted its 27th Annual Charity Dinner and Show 2026 on 19 September 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), bringing together distinguished guests, supporters, sponsors and members of the community for an evening dedicated to compassion, generosity and meaningful giving.



The Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, Deputy Chief Minister I of Sabah and Minister of Works and Utilities Sabah, attended the occasion together with Yang Berbahagia Datin Seri Panglima Linda Ewit.





The evening commenced with the arrival of guests, followed by the National Anthem and Sabah State Anthem, before the ceremonial Lighting of the PCA Logo, setting an elegant and meaningful tone for the evening.




The formal programme featured a welcome address by Dato’ Dr Jaswant Singh, President of PCAKK, followed by remarks from Madam Meng Tan, Patron of the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu.





The Guest of Honour subsequently delivered his address, followed by the presentation of a memento and a Mock Key for a Donated Vehicle, symbolizing the generosity and continued support extended to PCAKK.

A series of heartfelt presentations followed, including the Homecare / Support Services “Dream Come True” video and a family presentation titled “When We Needed Help”, offering guests a personal glimpse into the importance of palliative care, homecare services and family support.







An Evening of Giving

One of the evening’s highlights was the Charity Public Auction, organised as part of the fundraising efforts for PCAKK. Several specially selected paintings, together with a personal collection of watches, were offered during the auction, giving guests an opportunity to contribute to the association while taking home unique and meaningful pieces.








The auction added an engaging and spirited dimension to the evening, transforming generosity into an interactive celebration of community support. Every contribution helped reinforce the wider purpose of the event: raising funds to support PCAKK’s continuing work in palliative care and services for patients and their families.

The evening continued with performances by Rowhell Roland and Christal Ann Stephen, alongside sponsor appreciation and a Lucky Draw.

Adding a spectacular entertainment finale, guests were treated to The Australian Bruno Mars Show, bringing music, energy and celebration to the elegant evening.



During the event, a memento was also presented to Hyatt Regency Kinabalu in recognition of its involvement and support.




More than a formal charity dinner, the PCAKK 27th Annual Charity Dinner and Show 2026 was a celebration of compassion, dignity, generosity and community. Behind the refined setting and evening of entertainment was a deeply meaningful purpose: supporting the continued work of palliative care and helping ensure that patients and families receive the care, comfort and support they need.

It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old.
