Life+ Expo 2026 Returns to Sabah: A Celebration of Life, Wellness and Gratitude “Celebrate Life. Plus More.” 9 to 11 October 2026, Sabah International Convention Centre - Feature In FAVSTYLE Magazine

-

Every life we live today is built on the love of someone who came before us. A parent who worked long hours so we could go to school. A grandparent whose quiet wisdom shaped who we became. A mentor, a neighbour, a friend who gave without asking for anything back.

This October, Sabah pauses to say thank you.

Life+ Expo 2026 will take place from 9 to 11 October 2026 at Kinabatangan III, Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), bringing together families, seniors, wellness advocates and the wider community for three days of discovery, care and celebration.

Guided by the theme “Celebrate Life. Plus More.” and the heartfelt tagline “Thank You For A Lifetime Of Love,” the Expo is a storytelling experience unlike any other in the state: an exhibition that honors the generations who gave us so much, while inspiring every visitor to live well, care for themselves and embrace the years ahead with confidence and joy.

A Different Kind of Expo

Life+ Expo is built on a simple belief: that life does not slow down with age; it deepens.

Retirement today is no longer an ending but a new beginning, a time to rediscover passions, pursue new adventures and live with purpose.

At the heart of the Expo is the spirit of 感恩 (gratitude). Visitors are invited not only to look after their own wellbeing, but to bring their parents, grandparents and loved ones along, and to spend meaningful time together.

It is a gift of health, a gift of time, and a quiet way of saying: we remember what you have done for us.

“[Quote from Chan Kay Yi, Event Curator, Life+ Expo 2026, e.g.: Life+ Expo was created to remind us that caring for ourselves and honoring those who cared for us are two sides of the same love. We want every family who walks through our doors to leave healthier, happier and a little more grateful for one another.]”

Free Health and Wellness for the Community

Admission is free for all visitors, and the Expo offers a comprehensive range of complimentary health programmed:

  • Health checks: blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and BMI, along with bone mass, UV and blood vessel checks.

  • Eye care: free glaucoma testing and comprehensive eye check-ups.

  • Kidney health: free screenings by the National Kidney Foundation on 9 October, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Women’s health: eligible Malaysian women may access free HPV DNA and cervical cancer screenings, and apply for mammogram subsidies.

Pamper Yourself: Programmed Worth Registering For

Because living well also means treating yourself well, the Expo features specially curated programmed (pre-registration required):

  • Flower Arrangement Workshops: Table Arrangement (9 Oct), Basket Arrangement (10 Oct) and Bouquet Arrangement (11 Oct).

  • Fitness and Dance Classes: three days of Zumba, Salsation, Strong Nation and more, with all proceeds donated to Pink Ribbon Kota Kinabalu.

  • Portrait Experience: professional makeup, hair styling and a photography session. A beautiful keepsake, or a meaningful gift for a mother, father or grandparent.

Joy, Rewards and Giving Back

Visitors can collect stamps from 10 booths to enter the Lucky Draw, redeem a free Blind Box with any RM10 purchase, and take part in the Preloved Shirt and Recycle Activity in support of Tzu Chi, so that even a day of celebration becomes a chance to give to others.

An Invitation to Every Family in Sabah

Life+ Expo 2026 is more than an exhibition. It is a movement to enrich life with meaning, bringing together partners, sponsors and media allies to present a holistic vision of ageing well in the modern world.

Bring your parents. Bring your grandparents. Bring your children. Come celebrate the lives that shaped yours, and the life still waiting to be lived.

Tajau and Tradition: The Living Legacy of Siopon in a Murut Engagement

-
Image
It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old. Due to health reasons, she can no longer prepare it, so Liza and her siblings made the effort to learn and continue the family tradition. The Angin family According to Liza, long ago the drink was treated like coffee. Whenever visitors came to Murut hom...

Donggongon: The Heartbeat of Penampang’s Culture, Food and Tamu Tradition by Lorena Binisol

-
Image
Every Wednesday and Thursday, something special happens in Donggongon , the vibrant township at the heart of Penampang . The streets come alive as villagers, vendors and townsfolk gather for the beloved Tamu , a weekly market that has long been part of the community’s rhythm. For generations, the Tamu has been more than just a marketplace. It is a meeting ground where stories are exchanged, traditions are preserved, and the spirit of the community continues to thrive. At the moment, vendors are temporarily operating in the open space between shop lots while the new permanent Tamu building is under construction. The upcoming structure promises a more modern look, but many locals still remember the rustic charm of the old Tamu, where simple stalls created a warm and authentic village atmosphere. Despite the temporary setting, the market remains lively. Visitors can still find baskets filled with fresh vegetables, tropical fruits and produce brought in from nearby villages. Among the u...

Strengthening Connections at the ACCA Sabah Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner 2026

-
Image
The ACCA Sabah Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner held at ITCC Seafood Restaurant brought together members for an evening defined by introductions, renewed connections, and professional camaraderie. The programme centred largely on new members stepping forward to introduce themselves and share their current roles, while several long-standing members also took the opportunity to reconnect and re-establish professional ties in a relaxed setting. From my perspective within the professional and academic landscape, the evening reflected something deeper than a festive gathering; it demonstrated the importance of sustaining a strong professional ecosystem. Each introduction, whether from a new entrant or an experienced practitioner, highlighted how the accountancy field continues to evolve while remaining anchored in shared standards and collective responsibility. A healthy ecosystem is not built overnight; it grows through mentorship, collaboration, and the willingness of members to contribute...
