HILLSONG WORSHIP RETURNS TO MALAYSIA A Global Worship Experience Meets Malaysia’s Rising Homegrown Voices
KUALA LUMPUR, 3 September 2026 | The anticipation is building as Hillsong Worship Nights Asia Tour 2026 prepares to return to Malaysia, bringing together an internationally celebrated worship ensemble, sophisticated stage production and two distinctive Malaysian voices for what promises to be two deeply memorable evenings of music, worship and connection.
Adding a distinctly Malaysian signature to the tour, organizer Star Planet has announced acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer Nigel Tay as the special opening act for the Kuala Lumpur concert on 9 September, while Sabah-born vocal powerhouse Eylia Guntabid will take the stage ahead of Hillsong Worship in Kota Kinabalu on 13 September.
Nigel Tay: Contemporary Soul with a Malaysian Identity
Known for his refined fusion of R&B, soul and contemporary pop, Nigel Tay brings a modern sensibility and warm vocal character to the Kuala Lumpur stage. His body of work, including Créma, HOOKED and Manhattan Beach, reflects an artist who has developed a sound that is contemporary yet unmistakably his own.
His opening performance is expected to establish an intimate yet energetic atmosphere before the evening unfolds into Hillsong Worship's expansive musical experience.
Eylia Guntabid: Sabah’s Voice Takes Centre Stage
For Kota Kinabalu, the evening carries an especially significant homegrown dimension.
Sabah-born Eylia Guntabid arrives with an impressive collection of accolades, having been crowned champion of StarVoices Asia Season 7, earning multiple gold medals at the World Championships of Performing Arts, and making her mark as a standout performer on Bintang RTM 2024.
Her musical identity remains closely connected to her Sabah roots, most notably through her 2026 single Langadon Oku Sabah. Her appearance will form part of Hillsong Worship's historic first-ever concert in Kota Kinabalu, giving the occasion an unmistakable local character.
A World Stage, Crafted for the Live Experience
Beyond the Malaysian opening acts, Hillsong Worship brings together performers from Australia, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and the United States, creating a truly international musical ensemble shaped by diverse cultural backgrounds and a shared musical language.
The production is equally ambitious. Audiences can expect high-fidelity audio, advanced stage engineering and immersive lighting, designed to heighten every instrument, lyric and collective voice within the venue.
For Favstyle, this is more than a concert announcement. It represents the meeting point of global artistry and Malaysian talent, with established international musicians sharing the stage with two homegrown performers whose own journeys are adding new chapters to Malaysia's evolving music landscape.
Two Cities. Thousands of Voices. One Shared Experience.
Hillsong Worship's music has travelled far beyond the traditional church setting, accompanying generations through moments of personal devotion, communal worship and reflection. In a live arena, however, those familiar melodies take on another dimension, transformed by the collective energy of thousands of voices singing together.
