FAVSTYLE Magazine and FAVSTYLE Essentials, together with My KKCity admin, were honored to attend and be part of this extraordinary experience.
The festival’s return, its first since 2019, carried a deeper significance. Organised by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu and Society of Performing Arts Sabah, the event continues to champion both the arts and community impact. Proceeds from the festival support meaningful initiatives such as medical outreach programs, clean water access projects, literacy efforts, and healthcare initiatives — a reflection of Rotary’s enduring motto, Service Above Self.
Throughout the evening, the stage came alive with a dynamic lineup of local and international jazz talents. Audiences were treated to performances by The Shun Ng Trio featuring Yuuki Shiojima, Velvet Aduk, Megan Hen, the Wilson Quah Quartet, Fluffbox x Teriver featuring Dasha Logan, Anthony’s Groove Ensemble, and Appy & the Cosmic Soul, among others — each act contributing a unique rhythm to the night’s musical journey.
Beyond the music, the event also attracted a diverse media and digital community presence. Notably, FAVSTYLE Magazine | FAVSTYLE Essentials stood out as the only lifestyle magazine in attendance, covering the KK Jazz Festival 2026, reinforcing its role as a leading voice in lifestyle and cultural storytelling.

“KK Jazz Festival is more than just music, vibes, and celebration… it’s a beautiful reunion of souls. A place where friendships rekindle, old pals reappear, and long-lost connections find their way back. What made it even more special—we bumped into Mr. Jason, the owner of DAYA Nyonya Kopitiam, right in the heart of the festival. Moments like this remind us… it’s not just an event, it’s a feeling.” |
Beyond the performances, the festival extended into a lively culinary and lifestyle experience. Guests enjoyed a curated selection of food and beverage vendors including JINNN (It’s 5 O’Clock), Borneo Food & Drinks, Happy Place, The Wine Shop, Ma Luné, Seven’s, The Other Side Cocktail Bar, Mini Tempurung Café, and Kinarut Record Station — creating a vibrant social space that kept the crowd energized throughout the evening.
The festival’s impact resonated strongly with both attendees and partners. As Ruben, General Manager of Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu, aptly shared, “[Quote].”
More than just entertainment, KK Jazz Festival continues to serve as a meaningful platform for nurturing artistic growth. The Society of Performing Arts Sabah, founded in 2007 by Adeline Leong, plays a pivotal role in supporting and elevating Sabah’s performing arts scene. Under the leadership of Roger Wang, the festival not only showcases talent but also fosters development through initiatives such as educational workshops, including a special session by internationally renowned drummer Arthur Kam.
With strong support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah (KePKAS) as the main sponsor, alongside continued backing from the Sime Darby Foundation, the festival remains a cornerstone of Sabah’s cultural and tourism landscape.
For over a decade, KK Jazz Festival has drawn audiences from across Southeast Asia, and its 2026 revival signals renewed momentum as Kota Kinabalu continues to position itself as a vibrant cultural destination ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027.
As the final notes faded into the night, what lingered was more than music — it was a celebration of connection, creativity, and community.
KK Jazz Festival is not just back. It is thriving, evolving, and setting the stage for an even brighter cultural future.
