A Journey of Heart, Hope & Humanity Kg Bantul, Pagalungan | 28–29 March 2026

Together, in one frame—celebrating a journey defined by compassion, connection, and unforgettable moments.

In a world often defined by pace and pursuit, there are moments that call us back to something far more meaningful—connection, compassion, and purpose.

On 28 March 2026, a distinguished group of 26 volunteers embarked on an extraordinary medical outreach to Kg Bantul, Pagalungan, Sabah. More than a journey across distance, it was a journey into the very essence of humanity.

A safe journey begin

Drawn from diverse regions including Tenom, Tuaran, Kudat, Keningau, and Penampang, each individual arrived with a shared intention: to serve beyond self. Among them were titleholders of the King & Queen of the Pacific, embodying the platform’s Heart of Giving pillar—not as symbolism, but as lived action.

The Journey: Where Purpose Meets Endurance

The expedition began at Padimas Medic Clinic, where six vehicles carried both volunteers and vital medical supplies. Under the leadership of Dr Erle Henry, alongside Hector John coordinating operations, the mission unfolded with precision and heart.

Yet the path to Kg Bantul was anything but simple.

A four-hour overland journey was followed by a final hour navigating strong river currents by boat—an elemental passage through Sabah’s untamed beauty. Along the way, the team faced challenges that tested both resilience and resolve: uncertain routes, intense heat, a punctured tyre, and even a moment of mechanical failure on steep terrain.

And still, they moved forward—guided not by convenience, but by commitment.

The resonant echo of gongs welcomed the team—a ceremonial embrace from the village. At the longhouse, each volunteer was adorned with handcrafted beaded necklaces, a gesture steeped in heritage and honour. Warm, prepared with sincerity, spoke a universal language of generosity.

The official welcome by Village Head, Mr Hendry, marked the beginning of a shared experience—one that transcended aid and entered the realm of human connection.

Service in Motion: Precision, Care, Compassion

The mission unfolded with seamless coordination:

  • Registration led with efficiency and warmth
  • Health screenings including blood pressure, BMI, and glucose assessments
  • Medical consultations delivered with expertise and empathy
  • Pharmacy services ensuring continued care beyond consultation

Complementing medical care were thoughtful additions:
head therapy sessions, dental services, and engaging activities for children—each element curated to nurture both body and spirit.

Behind the scenes, documentation teams preserved these moments, ensuring the story of Kg Bantul would travel far beyond its riverbanks.

Evening: Where Humanity Gathers

As dusk settled, the atmosphere softened into something almost poetic.

Dinner, thoughtfully prepared, restored energy and camaraderie. The night unfolded with traditional dance performances—an elegant expression of culture that transformed the longhouse into a living tapestry of heritage.

Volunteers rested together in shared simplicity, a quiet reminder that luxury is not always found in excess, but in presence.

Morning brought yet another gesture of kindness—a lovingly prepared breakfast before departure.

Beyond the Mission: A Lasting Impression

What lingered was not fatigue, but fulfillment.

The smiles of the villagers, their quiet gratitude, and the unspoken bonds formed in those fleeting hours became the true measure of success. This mission was never solely about medicine—it was about dignity, care, and the restoration of hope.

As the team journeyed back through the river’s currents, one truth became undeniable:

Throughout the mission, the team encountered various challenges that tested both their endurance and resilience. Preparing sufficient medical supplies required careful planning, and what initially seemed insufficient was eventually made possible through the generous contributions of Mr Sean from HL Pharmacy Penampang, Mr Brandon from Pharmex, Ms Dymphna from Asisi Office Sacred Heart KK, along with support from other donors.

This was only the beginning.

The Essence of Giving

Heart of Giving is not a moment—it is a continuum.

A quiet force that bridges worlds, elevates lives, and leaves behind something far more valuable than aid:

A legacy of humanity, carried forward.
