For centuries, the distinguished Idahan people have held sovereign custodianship over nature’s most coveted delicacy: edible bird’s nests. Within the sacred chambers of Madai Cave, Baturong Cave, Segarong Cave, and Tepadong Cave, this rare harvest is elevated beyond commerce—becoming a lineage, a rite, a legacy whispered through generations. Each delicate nest, gathered with reverence, carries the weight of history and the quiet dignity of a people deeply entwined with their land.

This noble tradition reaches its crescendo during the annual Salag Festival—a celebration not merely of harvest, but of identity itself. It is here that culture is not displayed, but embodied; not preserved, but lived with elegance and pride.

Introducing Intan Rose—a luminous daughter of Lahad Datu, and a living portrait of Idahan grace. Draped in the exquisite tibung, her silhouette speaks of refinement shaped by heritage. The selambai rests upon her shoulders like a quiet crown of honour, while the flowing selimpang traces a line of understated opulence. Completing her ensemble, the mahkuttak—a headpiece of poised splendour—frames her presence with regal restraint.
