Ben Uzair — The Craft of Experience A Special Feature by the Editor-in-Chief, Favstyle

There are individuals who define a role, and then there are those who move beyond definition entirely. Ben Uzair belongs to the latter.

Across Sabah, he is recognized as a distinguished Master of Ceremonies for premier events. Yet, to confine him to a single title would be to overlook the architecture of his work. From hospitality and broadcasting to training, consulting, and fitness entrepreneurship, Ben operates as a modern “gigpreneur” — not juggling roles, but building a cohesive ecosystem of experiences.

At the heart of it all lies a singular focus: people. How they feel, how they present themselves, and ultimately, what they carry with them long after the moment has passed.

The Foundation of Precision

Ben’s journey began with a strong academic backbone shaped across continents. A background in Hotel Management from Switzerland, followed by a Business Administration degree in the United States, formed a dual perspective that continues to define his approach today.

Hospitality instilled discipline, detail, and consistency. Business sharpened structure and strategic thinking.

Together, they became his operating language.

Hospitality — Where Standards Are Silent but Felt

Before the spotlight, there was structure.

Ben’s early career unfolded within the hospitality industry, spanning boutique properties to luxury and convention hotels. From housekeeping to concierge, front office to supervisory roles, he immersed himself in the operational rhythm of service.

His tenure as an Executive Housekeeper at a Forbes Five-Star property in the United States refined a mindset where precision was not optional, it was expected.

Today, that relationship with hospitality has not faded, it has evolved. Whether through collaborations, hotel launches, or curated experiences, his connection to the industry remains deeply embedded, continuously shaping how he designs every interaction.

From Airwaves to Atmosphere

Before commanding a room, Ben mastered the unseen audience.

As a radio announcer with RTM SabahVFM and KK12FM, he hosted programmes that required not just voice, but presence without visibility. It was here he developed an instinct for pacing, tone, and timing.

More importantly, he learned the art of listening.

Today, that same clarity carries through his podcast Make It Happen, where conversations are grounded, purposeful, and designed to inspire action rather than noise.

The Stage — Where Structure Meets Presence

Ben’s evolution into one of Sabah’s trusted emcees began modestly in 2015, volunteering for a breast cancer awareness walk. What followed was a deliberate and disciplined build.

Trained under Datuk Mahadzir Lokman, he refined not just delivery, but the deeper mechanics of stagecraft — programmed flow, protocol, and audience psychology.

Today, he is the name behind events where precision matters.

From high-level government functions to corporate gatherings, Ben is often engaged not only as host, but as a strategic advisor. His involvement frequently begins long before the event itself, shaping transitions, structure, and the unseen details that define a seamless experience.

On stage, his presence is composed yet engaging, striking a balance between warmth and authority.

He does not command attention.

He orchestrates it.

Beyond the Spotlight — Building People

Away from the stage, Ben’s work expands into training, consulting, and coaching.

He collaborates with organizations and government agencies across Sabah, focusing on communication, leadership presence, and real-world confidence. His sessions are immersive, practical, and grounded in lived experience.

Among his signature programmes:

  • Dining Etiquette (Hands-On) — where refinement meets real application
  • Lectern Leadership: Emcee with Excellence — a masterclass in structure, clarity, and control

His philosophy is simple yet powerful: skills are important, but confidence is transformative.

Youth, Voice, and National Dialogue

As a Sabah Ambassador for Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50), Ben played a role in facilitating conversations with Malaysia’s youth, creating spaces for ideas to be expressed and heard.

Rather than leading from the front, he operates within the conversation, guiding, listening, and translating thoughts into meaningful dialogue.

It is a quiet leadership, but a powerful one.

Content with Intent

In the digital space, Ben curates content across F&B, hospitality, and travel, with a discerning lens shaped by his background.

He does not simply showcase places.

He studies them.

From the craftsmanship behind a dish to the people driving the experience, his content highlights substance over surface. Each feature reflects a commitment to quality, authenticity, and meaningful storytelling.

Juara Gym — Strength with Purpose

Juara Gym was born not from trend, but from personal experience.

Once feeling out of place in conventional fitness environments, Ben set out to create a space that feels different, more human, more accessible.

Guided by its philosophy:

Endure. Conquer. Be.

The gym represents more than fitness. It is a reflection of growth, resilience, and self-definition. A space where progress is personal, and perfection is not required.

As it evolves, Juara Gym is envisioned as a lifestyle brand, bridging fitness and practical nutrition in a way that is sustainable and real.

Recognition & Distinction

Ben’s contributions have been acknowledged through honours such as:

  • Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK)
  • Sijil Kehormat by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah
  • Sabah Top Influencer & Content Creator of the Year 2021
  • Anugerah Emcee Cemerlang Gemilang Madani 2025

These accolades, while significant, are not the destination, they are markers along an ongoing journey.

At the Core

Strip away the titles, the roles, and the accolades, and what remains is a clear philosophy.

People may not remember every detail.

But they will remember how they felt.

And in every room, every stage, every session, that is the experience Ben Uzair continues to craft.
