The Heartbeat of Borneo Returns to Kuala Lumpur with BNF 2026: Reunited

The vibrant spirit of Borneo is set to take centre stage in Kuala Lumpur as the highly anticipated Borneo Native Festival (BNF) 2026: Reunited returns from 22 to 24 May 2026 at Central Market Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by Persatuan Sukaseni Kuala Lumpur, the festival marks its 5th edition, continuing its meaningful mission of celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Sabah and Sarawak while reconnecting the Bornean community in the heart of the city.

This year’s edition promises an immersive cultural experience featuring traditional performances, heritage craft exhibitions, interactive workshops, entrepreneur showcases, and authentic Bornean flavours that beautifully reflect the identity of East Malaysia. Visitors can also look forward to vibrant celebrations inspired by Sabah’s Pesta Kaamatan and Regatta Lepa, alongside Sarawak’s Hari Gawai and Pesta Kaul.

Adding more excitement to the festival are appearances by notable local talents including Mimifly, Marsha Milan, Naki, Alena Murang, Tuni Sundatang, Dabra Sia, and many more special performers set to illuminate the festival stage across the three-day celebration.

According to Founder Raffy Syazwan, this year’s festival aims to further empower Malaysian participation, especially the Bornean diaspora, in reconnecting with their cultural roots while strengthening efforts to position Malaysia as a competitive cultural tourism destination through continued support from various stakeholders.

“My hope this year is to further empower the involvement of Malaysians, particularly the Bornean diaspora, so they can once again feel the warmth of their homeland while giving everyone the opportunity to appreciate the richness of our cultural heritage.

I also hope more parties, including government and private sectors, will actively support high-impact cultural programmers to elevate Malaysia as a strong and competitive cultural tourism destination,” said Mr. Raffy Syazwan, Founder of Persatuan Sukaseni Kuala Lumpur.

More than just a festival, BNF 2026: Reunited is a heartfelt cultural homecoming where traditions, artistry, music, and heritage unite in one colourful celebration.
