Sabah Tourism Strengthens Sustainable Future Through GSTC Certification Engagement

Sabah Tourism Board today hosted an engagement session with tourism stakeholders on Vireo SEA and Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Certification, reinforcing Sabah’s commitment towards internationally recognised sustainable tourism standards.

The session was officiated by STB Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit, in the presence of Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tay Shu Lan.




As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen Sabah’s tourism landscape, STB remains committed to working closely with industry stakeholders in promoting greater awareness, understanding, and adoption of sustainable tourism practices across the state.






The engagement session also featured insightful presentations by Vireo SEA General Manager Lim Aik Loong, who shared valuable guidance on GSTC standards and certification processes. Industry representatives from Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Shangri-La Rasa Ria, and Turtle Island Lodge Selingan also shared their certification journey and practical experiences in implementing sustainable tourism initiatives.



Together, Sabah’s tourism industry continues to move forward with a shared vision of responsible, resilient, and sustainable tourism for the future.
