A familiar name within Kota Kinabalu’s vibrant culinary landscape, Shoney’s previously earned recognition as one of the Signature Food Fest’s award-winning restaurants from its 1st through 4th editions. Now reborn with an expanded vision, the restaurant officially welcomed its first guests on 15 May 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for the beloved establishment.

Perfectly positioned just moments away from Suria Sabah Shopping Mall and the iconic Gaya Street Sunday Market, Shoney’s re-emerges as a stylish urban dining sanctuary designed for modern gatherings, celebratory evenings, and indulgent culinary escapes.

At the centre of the experience remains the restaurant’s celebrated signature, the Shoney’s Platter. Arriving with impressive presentation and generous sophistication, the platter is a lavish ensemble of grilled jumbo prawns, crispy fried cuttlefish, chicken and vegetable skewers, Southern fried chicken, tender lamb chops, premium beef sausages, and their famously succulent BBQ ribs. Accompanied by buttered corn, seasonal vegetables, and Cajun potato cubes, the experience unfolds like a curated feast crafted for sharing and conversation



The newly expanded venue now stretches across more than 4,000 square feet, introducing an atmosphere that feels simultaneously intimate and grand. Elegant spaces have been thoughtfully designed to accommodate private functions, refined family gatherings, birthdays, corporate occasions, and stylish wedding celebrations. Beyond the restaurant walls, Shoney’s also extends its signature hospitality through premium outdoor catering services.



Favstyle Editor-in-Chief Alfred Allen Ginsos was invited for an exclusive preview experience alongside Omar Willie of MY KKCity, Belinda Faith from Sabah KOL Media Alliance, and Ben Liew of Delicious Borneo. The evening was elevated further by the warm hospitality personally extended by Shone Majimbun and Kathie Majimbun, creating an atmosphere that felt welcoming, personal, and effortlessly refined.

The menu continues to celebrate elevated Western dining with a generous and approachable touch. From expertly grilled steaks and signature ribs to classic chicken chop, lamb chop, and a refined seafood selection, every plate reflects Shoney’s commitment to flavour, comfort, and consistency. Their refreshing Shoney’s Salad remains highly recommended, offering a crisp contrast to the restaurant’s rich and smoky grill selections.
