Sabah Tourism Strengthens French Market Ties Through Strategic Networking Dinner

Sabah is opening another window to the world, this time welcoming the charm of the French travel market with warm hospitality and strategic collaboration.

The Sabah Tourism Board recently hosted a special networking dinner with French travel agents, media representatives and industry partners, aimed at strengthening tourism ties and raising awareness of Sabah as a unique destination for European travellers.

Representing the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Sabah Tourism Board CEO Julinus Jeffery Jimit welcomed distinguished guests and introduced Sabah’s refreshed destination identity, “Explore Sabah, North Borneo.” During the evening, he highlighted how Sabah offers an exceptional blend of rich cultural heritage, thrilling adventure and breathtaking natural landscapes, positioning the state as a compelling destination for French travellers seeking authentic experiences.

The event also celebrated the growing tourism connection between France and Malaysia, supported by Malaysia Airlines’ direct flights from Paris to Kuala Lumpur, which make Sabah more accessible than ever for travellers from Europe.

Among the esteemed attendees were representatives from Bagan Conseil, Tourcom, Tourmag, Development Voyages, CFA Voyages, NGTravel, along with partners from Tourism Malaysia (Paris Office) and Malaysia Airlines, reflecting strong industry interest in Sabah’s tourism potential.

The networking dinner was further honoured by the presence of Mr. Mohd Nizam Halimi, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in France, who attended on behalf of His Excellency Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to France.

Sabah Tourism also extended its appreciation to the Ambassador and Tourism Malaysia for placing their trust in Sabah as the host destination for the Voyages Des Patrons Familiarisation Trip scheduled for June 2025. The initiative plays an important role in introducing Sabah’s diverse tourism offerings to the French-speaking market.

During the evening, guests were also given a glimpse into Sabah’s vibrant cultural heritage through a special Kaamatan invitation video presentation, offering French partners a preview of one of the state’s most celebrated festivals.

Looking ahead, Sabah Tourism is optimistic about expanding partnerships as Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and Visit Sabah Year 2027, paving the way for deeper collaborations and unforgettable travel experiences for visitors from France.
