A Royal Gesture of Heritage & Heart: Sheraton Kota Kinabalu’s First Raya Presentation

KOTA KINABALU, SABAH — In a moment steeped in tradition and refined hospitality, Sheraton Kota Kinabalu unveiled a meaningful milestone with its first official Hari Raya cake presentation to His Excellency Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Bin Haji Aman and Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah binti Haji Tussin at the prestigious Istana Seri Kinabalu.

This ceremonial gesture, held on March 18, 2026, was not merely a presentation but a poetic tribute to Sabah’s cultural richness. At the heart of it stood an exquisite four-tiered masterpiece of Pulut Kuning and Beef Rendang, curated with precision and passion by Executive Chef Ryan Poon and a dedicated team of ten culinary artisans.

Each layer told a story. Crafted from 35 kilograms of glutinous rice and 20 kilograms of premium Australian beef, infused with locally grown herbs and adorned with intricate vegetable carvings, the creation was both a feast and a visual symphony.

General Manager Nauman Hasan described the occasion as a defining chapter for the hotel, marking its debut presence within the Istana’s ceremonial traditions. The choice of Pulut Kuning, a symbol of prosperity and celebration, reflects a deeper narrative—one that honors Sabah’s heritage while embracing the spirit of unity and festive generosity.

In true Raya spirit, the story does not end within palace walls. Following tradition, the Governor ensures that these symbolic delicacies are shared with welfare homes and orphanages across the city, transforming a royal presentation into a ripple of compassion that touches the wider community
