A Grand Gesture of Prestige: Sheraton Kota Kinabalu Honors Tun Musa Aman with Edible Masterpiece

In a moment where craftsmanship met statesmanship, Sheraton Kota Kinabalu returned to the regal grounds of Istana Seri Kinabalu with a presentation that was nothing short of spectacular.

In honour of the 75th birthday of His Excellency Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Bin Haji Aman, the hotel unveiled a striking 20-kilogram chocolate chessboard cake — a creation that transcended pastry and entered the realm of art.

According to the official release, this exquisite centrepiece was not merely a dessert, but a symbolic narrative.

Crafted over two meticulous weeks, the cake featured fully edible chocolate chess pieces, each sculpted with remarkable precision. Beneath it all, a rich butter cake foundation provided both structure and indulgence, marrying engineering with elegance.

Where Strategy Meets Sweet Sophistication

The chessboard design was no coincidence.

It reflected a deeper tribute to Tun Musa Aman’s leadership — a celebration of strategy, intellect, and calculated excellence. Every piece on the board echoed the idea of “winning moves,” a quiet yet powerful metaphor woven into chocolate and form.

General Manager Nauman Hasan, who conceptualized the design, described the presentation as a proud showcase of the Sheraton culinary team’s artistry and dedication.

An Experience Beyond Celebration

Set against the grandeur of Istana Seri Kinabalu, the moment unfolded as more than a birthday tribute. It became a statement of Sabah’s refined hospitality, where luxury is expressed not just in service, but in storytelling, craftsmanship, and cultural respect.

Accompanied by Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah, the celebration carried an air of warmth and dignity, blending tradition with contemporary finesse.
