Nicole Lynn Maurice: A Queen of Heritage, Strength and Empowerment

In the world of pageantry, a crown may sparkle under the spotlight, but it is the woman beneath it who defines its true brilliance. Nicole Lynn Maurice, affectionately known as Nicole or Cole, embodies the spirit of a modern queen. Graceful, determined, and deeply rooted in heritage, she represents the harmonious blend of cultures that shape the identity of East Malaysia.

Born in Johor Bahru, Nicole carries a rich Sinokadazan heritage. Her mother hails from Kuching, Sarawak, while her father comes from Bongawan and Kiulu in Sabah. Today, she resides in Penampang, a place closely connected to Kadazan culture, where she continues to grow both personally and professionally while inspiring those around her.

Nicole’s journey into the world of pageantry began with quiet determination and a courageous first step. In 2019, she became a finalist in Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) Putatan and quickly captured the hearts of many by winning the crowd-favourite title, Miss Popular FB Putatan 2019.

Her journey since then has been one of steady growth and resilience. In 2021, Nicole secured a place in the Top 10 at Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Daerah Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK). Two years later, she competed in Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Papar 2023, achieving 7th Runner-Up and earning 3rd place in the Best Office Wear category.

Nicole’s momentum continued in 2024. She placed 7th Runner-Up at Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Kg. Dungkahang before achieving a significant milestone by winning Unduk Ngadau Membakut 2024, where she also earned the title of 2nd Runner-Up Best Contemporary.

Following this victory, Nicole advanced to the state-level Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan competition, competing alongside representatives from districts across Sabah. During the prestigious Sodop Pintutunan Gala Night, she was awarded Miss Imago Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2024. Although the final results did not unfold exactly as she had hoped, Nicole reflects on the experience with gratitude and pride.

“I never gave up because this was the best experience I hadn’t yet had,” she shares. “Joining this competition is not easy. It challenges you physically and mentally, but it also teaches you so much and helps you grow tremendously.”

Her journey reached an international stage in 2025 when she was crowned Winner of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Sawit Kinabalu HQ. The victory opened the door for Nicole to represent Malaysia at the global pageant King and Queen of the Pacific 2025 as Miss Malaysia Queen of the Pacific 2025.

On the international stage, Nicole shone with remarkable brilliance. She was crowned Queen of the Pacific World 2025, while also earning the titles Miss People’s Choice Award and Miss Best National Costume. These achievements reflect not only her beauty, but also her resilience, discipline, and unwavering belief in herself.

Now, Nicole is preparing for another significant chapter in her journey as she embarks on her third audition for Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Daerah Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) 2026.

Her connection with the DBKK stage began in 2019, when she first auditioned before competing in UNK Putatan. Although she did not reach the Top 15 that year, she returned stronger in 2021 and secured a place in the Top 10. This year, Nicole hopes that persistence, determination, and a touch of destiny will guide her into the Top 15 of UNK DBKK 2026.

Beyond the titles and accolades, Nicole stands as a passionate advocate for women empowerment. She believes every woman carries immense strength within herself and should never hesitate to pursue her dreams boldly.

Through her platform, Nicole encourages women to embrace confidence, cultivate courage, and break through limitations placed upon them. For her, empowerment is about uplifting others, inspiring growth, and creating space for women to shine in every arena of life.

Preparation remains a cornerstone of Nicole’s success. She approaches every competition with discipline and dedication, maintaining her health, refining her stage presence, strengthening her communication skills, and nurturing a resilient mindset.

Her personal motto reflects the philosophy she lives by:

“Believe in yourself, stay humble, and never stop chasing your dreams.”

As she looks toward the upcoming Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan, Nicole hopes to leave a meaningful impact not only through her performance on stage but also through her advocacy and cultural representation.

Her journey is a story of heritage, perseverance, and empowerment. With every step she takes, Nicole Lynn Maurice exemplifies the spirit of a modern queen: confident in her roots, courageous in her ambitions, and committed to inspiring others to rise alongside her.
