Kota Kinabalu, 18 June 2026 – The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) recently had the privilege of paying a courtesy visit to Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Musa bin Haji Aman, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah.

During the courtesy visit, PCAKK had the opportunity to introduce the Association’s role in providing compassionate palliative care services to patients and their families throughout Sabah. The engagement also highlighted PCAKK’s ongoing commitment towards improving access to quality palliative care and ensuring continuous support for individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
PCAKK further shared information on its upcoming 27th Annual Charity Dinner & Concert, which will be held on 19 September 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC). The event will feature The Australian Bruno Mars Tribute Show as one of the main highlights of the evening.
The Charity Dinner & Concert serves as an important fundraising initiative to support PCAKK’s Homecare Programme and its vision & plan in establishing a dedicated premises for the Association. This initiative aims to expand PCAKK’s services and facilities, strengthen patient care programmes, and ensure the long-term sustainability of palliative care services in Sabah.





As part of the visit, the PCAKK delegation had the honour of extending an invitation to His Excellency to grace the Association’s 27th Annual Charity Dinner & Concert as the Guest of Honour.
The PCAKK delegation was led by Dr. Mathan Mohan Rao, Organising Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, together with Madam Elsie Tan, Deputy Organising Chairman; Madam Meng Tan, PCAKK Patron; Datuk Margaret Lim, Advisor; Madam Ivy Stanislaus, Immediate Past President; Datin Liza Lee, Committee Member; and Mr. Benzie Richard, Executive Secretary.
PCAKK expressed its sincere appreciation to His Excellency for the warm welcome, support, and meaningful discussion in advancing community healthcare initiatives in Kota Kinabalu and Sabah.

It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old.
