As part of the distinguished King & Queen of the Pacific International Cultural Exchange Week 2026 (26 May - 31 May), delegates and titleholders embarked on a heartfelt visit to Sabah Cheshire Home & Services, embracing an afternoon dedicated to connection, compassion, and community engagement.







Beyond the ceremonial aspects of cultural exchange, the visit provided an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of human connection. Through warm conversations, shared laughter, and meaningful interactions, delegates spent quality time with the residents, creating moments that transcended language, borders, and backgrounds.







The experience was both inspiring and humbling. Witnessing the remarkable strength, resilience, and optimism demonstrated by the residents served as a powerful reminder that true richness in life is often found in gratitude, kindness, and the bonds we share with one another.

What began as a courtesy visit soon became an unforgettable exchange of stories, smiles, and mutual appreciation. The warmth and hospitality extended by the residents and staff transformed the occasion into a cherished highlight of the cultural exchange programme, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old.
