FAVSTYLE Media, the official organizer and publisher of the Meja Rasa Signature Guide STAR Ranking, is honored to officially announce the appointment of Mr. Rory Richardson as the Principal Judge of the Meja Rasa Signature Guide.

His appointment is effective 1 July 2026 through 1 July 2027, serving a one-year term.

Mr. Richardson is no stranger to the organization. He has proudly served as the Permanent Judge of The Signature Food Fest, contributing his expertise from its inaugural edition through to the 5th Edition. His long-standing commitment has played an instrumental role in establishing the credibility, consistency and professional standards of one of Sabah's leading culinary recognition programmers.

With an exceptional background in the food and beverage industry, complemented by decades of professional experience and an unwavering commitment to culinary excellence, Mr. Richardson brings invaluable expertise, integrity and international perspectives to the Meja Rasa Signature Guide. His leadership will be pivotal in ensuring every participating restaurant, café, hotel and culinary establishment is assessed through a transparent, impartial and internationally benchmarked evaluation process.

As Principal Judge, he will lead the judging panel in recognizing establishments that demonstrate outstanding excellence in culinary craftsmanship, service quality, hospitality, innovation, ambience and overall dining experience.

The Meja Rasa Signature Guide STAR Ranking is committed to becoming Sabah's premier independent restaurant rating and recognition platform, celebrating establishments that consistently deliver exceptional gastronomic experiences while raising the standards of the state's hospitality and tourism industry.

It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old. Due to health reasons, she can no longer prepare it, so Liza and her siblings made the effort to learn and continue the family tradition.
