Kota Kinabalu, 16 July 2026 | An evening of refined indulgence unfolded as Marqués de Cáceres, in partnership with Asiaeuro East Malaysia and Universal Group, presented an exclusive Wine & Dine Trail, inviting a select gathering of distinguished guests to experience the artistry of Spanish winemaking through an extraordinary culinary voyage.

Limited to approximately 24 invited guests, the intimate evening was thoughtfully curated to celebrate the heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance that have made Marqués de Cáceres one of Spain's most celebrated wine houses. Each destination revealed a new chapter, where exceptional wines were harmoniously paired with remarkable dining experiences across some of Kota Kinabalu's premier hospitality destinations.




The evening commenced atop the spectacular Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu Rooftop, where guests were welcomed with the vibrant and refreshing Marqués de Cáceres Verdejo. Set against panoramic views of the city's waterfront, the crisp citrus notes and lively freshness of the Verdejo created an elegant introduction to the evening's gastronomic adventure.

The journey continued to Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu, where guests were immersed in the captivating world of Le Petit Chef, an innovative dining experience that combines theatrical storytelling with fine cuisine. Complementing this unique presentation was The Excellence Sauvignon Blanc, whose refined aromatic profile and vibrant character elevated each course with effortless sophistication.




As the evening progressed, the experience arrived at Sheraton Kota Kinabalu, where the celebrated Reserva and Gran Reserva expressions took centre stage. Showcasing the remarkable depth, complexity, and ageing potential synonymous with the renowned Rioja region, each glass reflected generations of meticulous craftsmanship and the enduring legacy of Spanish viticulture.

The grand finale was nothing short of extraordinary. Guests were introduced to the iconic MC Generación Tempranillo, followed by the house's flagship masterpiece, Gaudium. It was a very fulfilling and insightful trip to Keningau recently, where the Angin family from Kg. Biah, Sook celebrated an important engagement ceremony. A family member was engaged to someone from outside the Murut community. Shonney Doney, who is of Murut and Dusun heritage, became engaged to a Sino-Kadazan young man from outside the Keningau district. What was truly special is that the Angin family prepared a cultural presentation featuring Siopon, a traditional homemade rice drink kept in jars. The beverage has been passed down for generations and is still practiced today. According to Liza Angin, Shonney’s aunt, the family has been making Siopon for many years, starting with their mother, Villine Lius, who is now 74 years old.
