Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu Embraces the Spirit of Ramadan with Home Tuaran Youths

Ramadan carries a certain hush before sunset. A pause. A breath. Then tables fill, laughter rises softly, and gratitude becomes the main course.

This year, Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu transformed that sacred pause into something deeply meaningful, welcoming 30 youths from Home Tuaran for a heartfelt Iftar gathering. More than a dinner, it was an embrace.

Held under Marriott International’s Serve360: Doing Good in Every Direction platform, the initiative reflected the brand’s commitment to nurturing communities in tangible, human ways

A Table Where Everyone Belongs

Home Tuaran, a charitable home supporting underprivileged and at risk youths aged 12 to 19, provides not just shelter, but guidance, education support, and emotional grounding for young lives navigating complex journeys
.
At the hotel’s signature restaurant, the evening unfolded in warm gold tones and gentle hospitality. The youths were treated to a festive Ramadan buffet prepared with care, while hotel associates joined them at the table. Conversations replaced formalities. Smiles replaced distance.

It was not charity. It was connection.

General Manager Suresh Ramasamy shared that Ramadan reminds us of compassion, generosity, and unity, expressing hope that the gesture would bring encouragement and joy to the young guests

Beyond Hospitality

Moments throughout the evening reflected genuine thoughtfulness.
Goodie bags were personally handed out by Executive Chef Abraham Lingcorn.
Duit raya was shared with warmth by the hotel’s Human Resources team.
Leaders stood not above, but beside the youths.

Home Tuaran representative Puan Junaidah expressed gratitude, sharing that what touched the children most was not only the meal, but the sincere care shown by the team

And that is the quiet magic of Serve360. It is not about grand gestures that echo loudly. It is about steady kindness that lingers.
Serve360 in Action

Through Marriott’s Serve360 commitment, Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu continues to champion initiatives aligned with “Nurturing Our World,” focusing on vulnerable communities and long term positive impact

In a city that celebrates Ramadan with vibrant bazaars and glowing lanterns, this gathering stood out for its intimacy. For its sincerity. For its reminder that hospitality is most powerful when it extends beyond the lobby doors.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful luxury is feeling valued.
And on this Ramadan evening, every young guest at that table did.
