Hotels with Heart: Ramadan Blessings at Masjid Al-Aman
In the golden hush of Ramadan evenings, when lantern light glows softly and prayers echo across the waterfront, something beautiful unfolded in Kota Kinabalu.
On 23 February 2026, Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu and Sheraton Kota Kinabalu came together in a meaningful gesture of community spirit, contributing 400 specially prepared porridge packs to the congregation of Masjid Al-Aman.
This heartfelt initiative supported the mosque’s moreh gathering, the light meal shared after nightly terawih prayers.
A Taste of Tradition
The contribution included:
• 200 packs of bubur lambuk – the iconic savoury spiced rice porridge that carries the aroma of Ramadan nostalgia
• 200 packs of bubur kacang hijau – a sweet mung bean comfort classic loved across generations
Prepared by the hotels’ culinary teams, each pack was more than just food. It was warmth in a container. A quiet reminder that generosity tastes better when shared.
Serve360 in Action
This initiative was led by General Managers Suresh Ramasamy of Le Méridien and Nauman Hasan of Sheraton, alongside their hotel associates, as part of Marriott International’s global sustainability and social impact platform, Serve360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
Serve360 focuses on supporting communities, protecting the environment, and promoting responsible business practices worldwide. But on this evening in Kota Kinabalu, it looked beautifully simple.
It looked like porridge.
It looked like smiles.
It looked like community.
Beyond Hospitality
This joint contribution reflects something deeper than corporate social responsibility. It speaks to hotels not just as places of stay, but as active community partners.
By participating in traditional Ramadan practices alongside the local congregation, both properties reaffirm their role in nurturing inclusivity, compassion, and shared humanity.
As Ramadan continues, these gestures become quiet chapters in a larger story. A story where business meets benevolence. Where luxury meets local heart.
And where hospitality extends beyond the lobby.
