Lampoopalooza 2026: A Valentine’s Night of Light, Music and Art in the Heart of Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU – Valentine’s night in the city is about to glow a little brighter. On 14 February 2026, the grounds of the Sabah Tourism Board along Gaya Street will transform into a luminous playground of art, sound and urban culture as Lampoopalooza 2026 takes centre stage from 5pm to 11pm.

This is not just another public event. It is a sensory experience, where creativity steps into the spotlight and the city becomes part of the performance.

Towering 15-foot illuminated installations, crafted from upcycled plastic gallons and accented with colourful lighting and batik fabrics, will stand like glowing sculptures under the evening sky. Beyond their visual drama, these artworks carry purpose, as the gallons will later be donated as part of a CSR initiative, giving beauty a second life and meaning beyond the night.

As darkness settles, the historic Sabah Tourism Board building itself becomes the star of the show. Large-scale projection mapping will wash across its façade, turning architecture into moving art, a quiet building suddenly pulsing with colour, rhythm and imagination.

Music lovers can drift into the FREE open-air concert, featuring talented Sabah artists performing throughout the evening. Meanwhile, food trucks and street stalls lining Gaya Street will keep the energy high, offering everything from local favourites to indulgent treats, the kind of flavours that make a night linger a little longer.

Lampoopalooza is a celebration of light, creativity and community. One night only, but the memories tend to glow long after the lights go out.
