Kota Kinabalu shimmered in red and gold as Hyatt Regency Kinabalu celebrated its second Chinese New Year at the property with a spectacle worthy of the Year of the Fire Horse 2026. The atmosphere pulsed with ceremonial drums, each beat echoing prosperity, courage, and blazing new beginnings.
The celebration unfolded with a trilogy of auspicious celestial performances.
Dragon Dance
The dragon coursed through the lobby with commanding grace, weaving blessings of strength, wisdom, and vibrant momentum.
Lion Dance
The lions brought dynamic vitality to the space, symbolically sweeping away negativity while inviting fortune and success.
Qilin Dance
The celestial Qilin appeared in majestic rhythm, embodying harmony, abundance, and auspicious transformation.
The crescendo arrived with the breathtaking celestial pole climbing performance. Elevated high above the ground, the lion leapt confidently between towering poles in a bold display of balance and resilience. The act symbolises overcoming challenges and rising toward success, a fitting emblem for the fiery determination of 2026.
In a ceremonial highlight, the General Manager, Mr Thor, received the authority scroll from the lion dance troupe, signifying empowered leadership and a prosperous year ahead for the hotel.
