From a Kampung Dream to the International Beauty Stage

Born and raised in Kg. Segama Batu 8, Lahad Datu, Sabah, Azmier Hisyamuqris Juadio Mading has transformed a childhood fascination with beauty into a career that has taken him far beyond the borders of his hometown.

Today, Azmier is recognised as a professional makeup artist whose portfolio spans pageants, celebrities, entertainment productions and international assignments. Yet behind the glamour lies a story built on determination, self-belief and years of quietly sharpening his craft.

The youngest of four siblings, Azmier comes from a mixed Dusun and Sungai Idaan heritage. His fascination with beauty began at an early age, long before makeup became his profession.

“For me, beauty is universal. It’s not just about the surface, but the inner self too. Still, the face is the first thing people see, and presentation matters.”

The First Brushstroke

At just 16 years old, while still in school, Azmier stepped into his first makeup competition. What could have remained a youthful experiment soon became the beginning of a serious passion.

During his early years in Sabah, he became involved as a makeup artist for the Unduk Ngadau pageant, an important cultural platform that provided him with invaluable exposure and helped build his confidence.

Inspired by renowned Indonesian makeup artist Bubah Alfian, Azmier continued to develop his skills largely through self-learning, determination and hands-on experience.

His journey was not built overnight. It was built brushstroke by brushstroke.

From Lahad Datu to Kuala Lumpur

In 2013, Azmier made a bold move to Kuala Lumpur with his sister and brother-in-law.

The transition was far from glamorous. He lived in Rawang while navigating the highly competitive beauty and entertainment industry in the capital.

His first professional breakthrough came through an RTM concert programmed, where he had the opportunity to work with actress Fatiya Latiff. Not long afterwards, another opportunity arrived when he was invited to work with Indonesian singer Randy Pangali.

These early assignments opened the door to a rapidly expanding professional journey.

From 2014 onwards, Azmier’s calendar became increasingly filled with projects, including assignments outside Malaysia. Each opportunity brought new faces, new environments and new challenges, allowing him to grow from a self-taught enthusiast into an increasingly established professional.

Beauty, Celebrities and Bigger Stages

Among the milestones closest to his heart was the opportunity to work with Malaysia’s beloved songstress Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza.

For Azmier, working alongside a figure of such stature represented more than another name on his portfolio. It was a moment that reflected how far his journey had travelled from the small kampung community where his dream first began.

His growing reputation also led to an invitation from the Simplisiti Team to serve as a makeup instructor, allowing him to share his knowledge and experience with others entering the beauty industry.

For a makeup artist, the brush can create transformation. For Azmier, experience has created something equally valuable: the opportunity to inspire the next generation.

Stepping Onto the International Stage

Azmier was also recently involved in the Mrs Earth International competition, where he provided his professional makeup services to several participants.

The occasion carried particular significance as the prestigious international event, originally founded in the United States, was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the first time.

Being part of such an international platform added another distinctive chapter to Azmier’s growing portfolio and reinforced his position within an increasingly global beauty landscape.

Beyond the Glamour

Behind every polished face is a professional who understands that makeup is not simply about cosmetics.

For Azmier, beauty is closely connected to confidence, presentation and the individuality of the person sitting in the makeup chair.

His career also demonstrates a lesson that extends well beyond the beauty industry: geographical beginnings do not have to define professional destinations.

A boy from Lahad Datu can dream beyond Sabah. A self-taught artist can earn a place among established professionals. And a passion that begins as a hobby can become a career with international reach.

A Message for Those Who Dare to Dream

Azmier remains grounded in the principles that carried him from his early days in Sabah to the professional stages of Kuala Lumpur and beyond.

His advice is simple but deeply personal:

“To achieve something, all you truly need is a heart full of determination. The rest is effort and the fire that keeps you moving forward.”

He believes that nothing is impossible when people are willing to take responsibility for their ambitions.

But ambition, he stresses, must be accompanied by sincerity and honesty, particularly when carrying out work entrusted to you.

For Azmier, success is therefore not merely about reaching the spotlight. It is about earning the trust that allows you to remain there.

From Kampung Roots to Global Glam

Azmier Hisyamuqris Juadio Mading’s journey is ultimately a story of transformation.

From a young boy in Lahad Datu captivated by the world of beauty, to a self-taught makeup artist, pageant professional, instructor and international beauty contributor, his career continues to evolve.

The glamour may be visible today, but the foundation was built much earlier, in a kampung where a young dream quietly took root.

And sometimes, the most remarkable journeys begin exactly there.
