The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Sabah & Labuan Chapter - President Mr Suresh Ramasamy recently paid a courtesy visit to YB Datuk Jafry Ariffin, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, in an engagement that brought together government and industry perspectives on the future of Sabah’s hospitality and tourism landscape.

More than a formal courtesy call, the meeting represented an important platform for dialogue between the State Government and one of the key pillars of Sabah’s tourism economy. Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration, advancing hospitality industry standards, developing human capital and ensuring that Sabah remains well positioned to meet the evolving expectations of travelers.

ADDRESSING THE FOUNDATIONS OF HOSPITALITY

Among the key concerns raised during the engagement was the water supply situation affecting several hotels in the Kota Kinabalu area.

For the hospitality industry, reliable infrastructure is more than an operational necessity. It forms part of the invisible architecture of a destination’s reputation. From the moment a guest checks into a hotel, every aspect of the experience contributes to how Sabah is perceived.
