For the past 15 years, Mr Joe has been actively involved with Miss Malaysia Pageant (MMP), establishing himself as a familiar presence within Malaysia’s pageant community. What began as a passion has evolved into a meaningful journey of engagement, connection and support for an industry that continues to inspire aspiring titleholders and audiences alike.
Beyond his involvement with MMP, Mr Joe also manages Sabahan Pageantry, his own TikTok platform dedicated to Sabah’s vibrant pageant landscape. Through this channel, he brings attention to local competitions, industry happenings and events across the state, particularly in Kota Kinabalu and its surrounding areas. His work offers audiences a closer look at the people, personalities and occasions that contribute to the region’s evolving pageant culture.
A Digital Presence with Purpose
In an era where digital platforms play an increasingly influential role in shaping public interest, MMP and Sabahan Pageantry have established growing audiences within the pageant community.
MMP has amassed more than 54,000 Instagram followers, while Sabahan Pageantry has reached 12,200 followers on TikTok. These platforms serve as dedicated spaces for pageant-related content, helping audiences stay connected with competitions, announcements, personalities and developments throughout the industry.

For Mr Joe, however, the significance of these platforms extends beyond follower counts. Their real value lies in their ability to connect people, celebrate achievements and give pageantry the visibility it deserves.
Working alongside an MMP team comprising mainly members from Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak, Mr Joe holds a particularly important role as the team's sole representative covering Sabah. His regional focus allows MMP to extend its coverage to Kota Kinabalu and neighbouring areas, bringing Sabah's pageant activities into a wider Malaysian conversation.
Passion Beyond the Professional Sphere
What makes Mr Joe’s journey particularly meaningful is that his involvement in pageantry is not his full-time profession. Like the other members of the MMP team, he pursues his pageant-related activities on a part-time basis while maintaining his own career and personal commitments.
MMP is not a corporate company or an office-based organisation with full-time pageant professionals. Instead, it is a pageant fan platform driven by a shared enthusiasm for the industry. Each team member contributes their time, effort and expertise around their existing responsibilities, united by a common interest in celebrating pageantry.

Remuneration is occasional and event-based. When invited to participate in an event or provide coverage, the team may receive a payment or token of appreciation for its involvement. These arrangements reflect the nature of their contribution: a commitment built around passion and community engagement rather than a conventional full-time business operation.
For Mr Joe, this distinction is important. His continued presence in the industry demonstrates that meaningful contributions do not always require a full-time title or corporate structure. Sometimes, the strongest commitment comes from individuals who willingly dedicate their personal time to something they genuinely believe in.
Building Bridges Across the Pageant Community
Over the years, MMP has developed relationships with numerous pageant organisations throughout Malaysia, cultivating connections with National Directors and their respective teams. These relationships have helped strengthen its presence as a recognised pageant fan platform within the local industry.
Through consistent engagement, dedicated coverage and an enduring interest in the people behind the competitions, MMP has become part of the wider conversation surrounding Malaysian pageantry.
Within Sabah, Mr Joe has developed personal connections with many pageant organisers through his years of involvement. His presence at numerous events, particularly around Kota Kinabalu, reflects his continued commitment to documenting and supporting the state's pageant activities.
His approach is grounded in participation and community. Rather than viewing pageantry solely through the lens of competition and crowning moments, he recognises the broader ecosystem of organisers, contestants, directors and supporters whose collective efforts bring each event to life.
More Than Glamour, A Commitment to Passion
Pageantry is often associated with beauty, elegance and the excitement of the stage. Yet behind every successful event lies a network of people whose efforts sustain the industry long after the applause fades. Through his continued involvement, Mr Joe contributes to this wider network by helping share stories, spotlight events and maintain connections among pageant enthusiasts.
Balancing his professional responsibilities as a teacher with his media activities requires careful time management, dedication and a genuine commitment to the work. His journey demonstrates how personal passion can grow into a meaningful contribution to a community, even when pursued alongside the demands of a separate career.

Through MMP and Sabahan Pageantry, he continues to champion the Malaysian pageant scene while ensuring that Sabah's stories remain part of the national conversation.
For Mr Joe, the journey is ultimately about more than digital reach, financial rewards or industry recognition. It is about supporting a community he cares deeply about, celebrating the people who make pageantry possible and remaining connected to an industry that has been part of his life for a decade and a half.
Fifteen years on, his commitment remains clear: to celebrate pageantry, connect its people and give Sabah's pageant scene a voice that reaches beyond its own shores.
