An evening of gratitude, cultural continuity, and leadership shaped by vision

An evening shaped by gratitude, continuity, and purpose. I attended a thanksgiving reception and contribution presentation held in honour of Chinese community associations within the Penampang Parliamentary constituency, a gathering that carried both civic weight and cultural grace.

My sincere appreciation goes to the Penampang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI), under the leadership of its President, Mr Victor Kou, for graciously hosting the dinner. The evening reflected the strength of community leadership when tradition meets contemporary responsibility.

In my capacity as the Member of Parliament for Penampang, I presented a total allocation of RM155,000 to 25 Chinese community associations within the constituency. This initiative emerged from earlier dialogues with the Kapitans of Penampang, whose collective efforts also anchor the organisation of the Penampang Chinese New Year Celebration and the Lantern Festival. These are not merely events, but living expressions of cultural continuity.

The occasion also provided space for meaningful exchange. I shared the policies, vision, strategic focus, and working approach currently guiding my role at the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET). Governance, progress, and partnership remain central to this mandate.

I further expressed my intention to recommend to the Right Honourable Chief Minister that corporate representatives be appointed to the boards of agencies and government-linked companies under my ministry. The objective is clear: to embed strong corporate governance principles within Sabah’s state-owned GLCs, strengthening accountability and long-term performance.

I am confident that through close collaboration and trusted relationships with industry associations and community stakeholders, Sabah can continue to advance its economic resilience, industrial growth, business ecosystem, and entrepreneurial ambition.
